Golf action has been hotly contested through 54 holes at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and it will remain such over the final 18. If you live in the United States, you needed to wake up quite early in the morning to feel the heat. The festivities continued Sunday at 3 a.m. ET as final-round action kicked off at Le Golf National in Guyancourt, France.
It has been a wild ride through these Olympics, and on Sunday, it got even wilder. Xander Schauffele, who looked poised to defend his gold medal, ejected on his back nine with Scottie Scheffler soaring into a tie atop the leaderboard with Tommy Fleetwood. This as other major stars in the game like Hideki Matsuyama, Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy were still in hot pursuit.
If you're wondering how meaningful this event is going to be for Frenchmen Victor Perez and Matthew Pavon -- both competing in their home country -- Pavon addressed that earlier in the week: "After a few days on the Olympic village, the opening ceremony in Paris with all this crowd in front of the Eiffel Tower and all the great moments we spent the last few days, it really feels like a gold medal would be now ranked higher than a major for me."
This week serves as an opportunity for superstars to add something to their career resume that they have yet to obtain: an Olympic medal. There are only 18 holes left for that dream to be achieved at Le Golf National, and you can follow all the Olympics golf live leaderboard action throughout Sunday.
